She and her husband both received their Doctor of Divinity degrees from the Universal Bible College in Texas just two weeks before he died of a massive heart attack. They had served as Disciples of Christ missionaries in Paraguay and her first book is about the exciting times in the jungle there: I Swam with the Piranhas and Still Have My Toes.
